Care Coordinator, Switch

My name is Jayden. And I serve as a care coordinator at Switch. Switch is a Christ-centered nonprofit that aims to combat sex trafficking and sexual exploitation in the upstate of South Carolina. In house, we also offer a psychiatrist partnership. We get them connected with peer support so they can build community with women who have had similar experiences as them, and are in similar stages of life. And we also offer discipleship. My position is one of being a support for the women that I serve. A lot of these women are coming from places where they've never had consistency or stability in their lives, and I get to provide them with a sense of that. I offer them a listening ear. And at times, I'm able to help guide them, and above all, I honor the choices that they make. I am working with a woman who is on the verge of homelessness, and so I'm getting her connected with a lot of local housing resources. She's registered for a particular housing program, and because of our relationship with that program, it looks like she'll be getting first pick on the house that she is looking for. The first step is usually in prioritizing what the participants are looking for. In this particular case, with this young woman who is need, in need of housing, she expressed that this was one of her top three goals. And so from there, I looked at what relationships we already had established with community partners. And if we don't have these relationships, what can we do to foster them. Because this is a mission that we can't accomplish on our own. And through that partnership, I get connected through these, to these community resources, and just express to them the need that we're looking to have met. And we go through that process of interviewing, applying, and just supporting her.
